Severnside Brecons Break

3 - 6 Sept 14

A superb little mini-week break in the Brecon Beacons.

26 Members and Friends enjoyed a three day break in the Brecon Beacons. We stayed at Nythfa House which is run by HF Holidays. We were well looked after by the staff and enjoyed good food and comfortable accommodation.

We had excellent weather (no rain!!!) and enjoyed 3 days of very good walking. Our first walk was 7 miles from the National Park Visitor Centre across Mynydd Illtud Common. We couldn’t visit Brecon without a hike up to Pen-y-Fan and this we did on the second day of our break. On the third day we had two walks arranged in Waterfalls Country. Both walks visited Sgwd yr Eira waterfall. The highlight being able to walk behind the curtain of water, quite a unique experience.

Many thanks to Chris and Andy for arranging all the bookings and providing evening entertainment. Many of the photos have been taken by Andy and again thank you for some stunning photos that provide a record of our time in the Brecons.

A special thank you to our walk leaders, Ken, Mike and Janet who arranged three days of enjoyable walks with wonderful scenery. The variety of the walks aided by the ideal weather has made for a memorable visit.

Lastly a thank you to our Members and Friends for good company and who made the break very enjoyable.
