Lulworth Cove

9 - 11 Nov 18

We had a very enjoyable weekend in Lulworth staying at West Lulworth House situated 200 yards from the sea and in an elevated position overlooking Lulworth Cove. This iconic location on Dorset's Jurassic Coast is popular with walkers, bird watchers and fossil hunters. The weather didn’t dampen our spirits and we enjoyed exploring Lulworth Castle and the coast path taking in Durdle Door. As the army ranges were open we took the opportunity to explore the tiny deserted Tyneham Village. A walk from Worth Matravers took in a brief service of remembrance at the Royal Marines Memorial at Emmetts Hill.

Many thanks to Heather Rickards for all the arrangements.

Many thanks for all the photos.

An excellent walking weekend (In spite of the rather 'iffy' weather!) for Severnside Ramblers based in HF's Lulworth House. Two days of walking taking in Durdle Door and Worth Matravers - this latter day (11/11) included a brief service at the Royal Marines Memorial on the headland at the eleventh hour. The weather is best described as 'mixed' (you'd have to have been there to appreciate that understatement!) and the accommodation was up to the expected HF standard. Many thanks to Heather, Ken, Gill and Jamie for organizing and leading. Photos from two of the four walks over the weekend in Flickr album
