Many thanks to our walk leaders for the variety of walks that have been offered over the last few months.

Any additional offers of walks would be appreciated.

Any later offerings of walks will of course be put in the programme as they arrive, but it's good to be able to publish a reasonable programme in advance.

Walk details can be submitted via the Ramblers Walks Manager or forward details to Ken Mill.

Our group is based in North Bristol and was formed in May 1997 from which time the membership has grown steadily, currently standing at around 155. We arrange walks throughout the year, ranging from short to long, from rural to urban. We get around 12 - 18 people on our walks, a manageable number which has given Severnside a reputation for its friendliness and sociability.

Our walks programmes continue to provide a rich variety of walks for a wide range of capabilities. Friday Ambles, (February - November) consisting of short two hour local walks on alternate Friday mornings, followed by a pub or café stop for (optional!) tea/cake/lunch are consistently popular, while the more challenging Sunday walks ranging from between 6 and 13 miles with a much wider geographical reach, are great for those who are a little more adventurous. The group has always aimed to be friendly and welcoming to newcomers - the main aim being to enjoy ourselves and appreciate the countryside.

Taster Walks - You don't have to be a member to come on one of our walks, newcomers are always welcome. Usually no need to book, just turn up at the meeting point. After 3 walks with the group, if you enjoy what we do, we would ask that you join the Ramblers. You’re welcome to come on a taster walk or two before deciding to join the Ramblers.

Meeting Points for Walks - Weekend walks meet at the Aztec West Management Centre, Blue Zone, Park Avenue, Aztec West, BS32 4TD for car sharing to the start of the walk. Friday Ambles meet at the Aldi car park, Brook Way, Bradley Stoke, BS32 9DA for carsharing to the start of the walk. The walks programme gives contact details for all walk leaders so that any queries can be discussed prior to the walk.

Social Events - We also organise weekends away in such places as Elan Valley, Llangollen, Shropshire, Lulworth Cove and the Brecon Beacons. Hold various social events, quiz, Christmas lunch.

Other Activities - Work with South Gloucestershire Council on footpath surveys.
Campaign on planning and environmental issues.

We always welcome new walk leaders and online training sessions are held regularly. If you would like to know more, speak to any walk leader.

How to join Ramblers.

Go to Ramblers main website www.ramblers.org.uk and click the link 'Get Involved' then the link 'Become a member'
This gives lots of information about membership fees and says something about the sorts of walks on offer.
Usually when people become members they become a member of a Group local to where they live so that they are circulated with the Group's walk programme and other related material.
However, as a Rambler member you would be entitled to walk with any Group in the country.
Finally, remember that before you actually decide to join, you are entitled to three free walks. This helps you to experience what is on offer particularly the grades of walks.
